I am 65 years old and am married to Margaret, we celebrate 41 years married this year, and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I work within my own business as a builder and joiner.
I have a long relationship with Newmachar Golf Club, having been involved in the actual building and shaping of the Hawkshill course. I have been playing golf here since the course opened in 1990, and have enjoyed seeing how the Club, Driving Range and the Courses have developed into what they are today.

Owns: Ladies Captain

A relative newcomer to NGC I joined the club in the autumn of 2019.

Since then I have benefitted from lessons at the Academy, regularly use the driving range and enjoy playing both the Hawkshill & Swailend courses all year round.

For me, Newmachar’s outstanding facilities combined with the friendly atmosphere amongst members and staff make golfing here a real pleasure.

Our well established Ladies section encompasses players of all abilities. I hope to continue the tradition at Newmachar of encouraging women's golf by supporting our current members while welcoming all golfers to the club whether they are new to the sport or more experienced players.

I have been a member of Newmachar for over 16 years. I served on the golf committee for 10 years and I was captain in 2020. I recently retired after being self employed for 23 years.

My interests are golf, football and music.

Owns: Business Development

I have a background in marketing and communications and work at the Aberdeen-based creative marketing agency Mearns & Gill. I manage several key clients as Lead Account Manager working across web, digital, brand, advertising and events.

Outside of work, I have also held a number of voluntary roles having been Chair of Aberdeen Comms Group and a Non-Executive Director at CLAN Cancer Support where I was vice-chair of the board and chair of the fundraising and marketing committee.

I joined Newmachar Golf Club in 2007 initially as a Swailend member, becoming a full member the following year. Since 2008 I have been a member of several of the club’s committees and have served Lady Captain on two occasions, most recently in 2020.

I am a Chartered Scientist who spent forty years working in a large NHS laboratory department, initially as a Biomedical Scientist. I took on the role of Quality Manager responsible for overseeing the laboratory’s accreditation in addition to my scientific role before managing the department for the last ten years of my career.

I am a chartered accountant with many years experience working with small and medium sized enterprises. Over the years I have served on many committees in different roles. Before moving to Aberdeen I served as Treasurer of a small golf club in the North of Scotland. “Always remember that a golf club is also a small business and to be successful must be administered as such”

Owns: Junior Convenor

Jim Bruce is a very keen golfer and has been a member at Newmachar for 26 years. He accepted the role of Junior Convenor last June in order to help encourage and develop the current crop of young golfing talent at the club. He has worked for the Press and Journal for 48 years and has occupied several business development and senior management roles, latterly the group national sales manager with responsibility for titles like the Sunday Post, Press and Journal and Dundee Courier. He was also a senior listed football referee and he still works for the Scottish Football Association as a referee observer, with the main role of coaching young and up and coming football referees.
